The headquarters for International Bible School is located in Opelika, AL and is a part of Literature and Teaching Ministries. Don DeWelt, founder of College Press and a professor at Ozark Bible College, along with Leonard Stone, a minister in Louisiana, started IBS in 1992.

The IBS  mission is focused on three groups

A: People seeking the answers to today's problems through study of the Bible;

B: Christians seeking a way to be involved in international missions from their home; and

C: Missionaries and other evangelists looking for people who are open to the New Testament gospel message of salvation.

IBS provides correspondence courses in both the printed and electronic formats for students to study in the privacy of their own homes. IBS matches these students with teachers who grade the lessons, answer their questions, and provide encouragement and prayer as the student competes the course.
